The Start of Argentina Winter by Nicki Slechta.

We left Lake Tahoe on a Tuesday, after 76 hours of travel we arrived in Bariloche. A car ride, 2 flights, and a 25-hour bus ride later we actually made it. Traveling with coaches, Chris Coulter and Michelle Parker, helped pass the time until we got to Buenos Aires where we met up with the rest of the SASS Global Travel staff. With only 10 people on staff this year, it was great to see the family again. The 10 of us jumped on the bus and started on the last leg of travel to Bariloche. A city located in the southern portion of Argentina at the base of the Andes. With some of the best food, coffee, and wine I’ve ever tasted, I couldn’t wait for our arrival!

When we got to our hotel, Soulmax Base 41, there was a storm on its way as well. It had started to rain during dinner and continued through the night. With the base of the mountain starting at about 3500 ft. and a summit elevation of about 8000 ft. we knew the rain was definitely snow at the top. We spent the evening in our indoor/outdoor pool trying our best not to get into too much trouble.

In the morning we woke up to sunshine and fresh snow above the tree line. We had breakfast, suited up, and walked over to the resort. We headed up the chair and then took a 15-minute hike to the top of Nubes. When I got the top I realized 76 hours of travel was definitely worth it, and after my first run down I didn’t want be anywhere else in the world!
